About
Welcome to Jentrepreneur. I’m Jennifer Mattern, and on this site I’ll be talking about a variety of online business issues, as well as sharing my own journey with the launch of new websites, blogs, and online business projects. Sometimes I’ll succeed. Sometimes I’ll fail. Either way, I hope that we’ll all be able to use my experiences as a learning tool.
About Me:
Currently I run a small PR firm where I specialize in online PR consulting and writing for independent and creative professionals (such as webmasters, small business owners, musicians, and authors).
I’m also a professional business writer, picking up freelance projects periodically on a part-time basis mostly in the realm of Web copywriting (marketing copy; not articles / content so much anymore).
On top of my service-oriented work, I also run several blogs and website including
- BizAmmo.com - my small business blog
- NakedPR.com - my PR blog
- AllFreelanceWriting.com - a blog on freelance writing issues
- AllBookMarketing.com - a blog about book marketing and publicity
- AudioXposure.com - an indie music webzine which will be overhauled and re-launched in 2008 (and a project this blog will follow)
- FreeDeepLinks.com - a free deep link article directory (the first of its kind)
- Writing Forums - previously independent community, now tied to my freelance writing blog
- AboutGreenLiving.com - a blog on green living (which I admittedly don’t update enough right now)
- and several others in development, with more sitting around that I’m preparing to scrap or incorporate into one of my larger sites
Besides my services and sites, I also sell a few informational products, with more on the way, including
- My Press Releases Made Easy e-book
- An e-book on building pre-launch buzz for a new book (due out in December)
- An e-book on building pre-launch buzz for new websites and online businesses (due out in 2008)
- PLR business article packs (which I plan to cease in 2008)
- and a few other projects, such as an expanded e-book on press releases, the beginning of a self-published book series on indie music promotion, and a book proposal I need to finish for a work on creative self-promotion
What You’ll Find Here:
Jentrepreneur is kicking off by pulling in my better content from my former blog ChickTech.net, and will likely be replacing my more personal blog at least for the time being.
I’ll be writing on topics such as starting an online business, blogging, Internet marketing and promotion, and making money on the Web through a variety of streams (like my own mentioned above).
To give you an idea of where I’m coming from, as a PR professional I hate to see people spend money for exposure when they don’t have to. So where others writing in this niche may encourage you to buy advertising, I’ll generally show you how to get free (or cheap) exposure for your sites, products, and services on the Web using PR and guerrilla marketing strategies (some of which you may be aware of, and some many Webpreneurs are clueless about).
I’ll also be using new projects and sites (and re-launches of some) as case studies here on Jentrepreneur, where you’ll be privy to some of my plans. You’ll get to watch me take them from zero earnings to solid incomes (hopefully), and in some cases you’ll watch my projects completely flop. I tend to consider the failures beautiful (although frustrating), because there’s always something to learn from them to make the next project a bigger success.
You probably won’t see me following traditional webmaster paths with my sites, or traditional Internet marketing plans when promoting other projects. I try not to follow the crowd in most things, although you’ll see plenty of familiar tactics. For example, I’m a big believer in commenting on related blogs, but you’ll probably not see me jumping on every new social media and Web 2.0 tool that comes along. You’ll see me occasionally take advantage of article marketing, but not the way most webmasters do. Just read the blog, and you’ll understand soon enough.
So you’re welcome to join me on this journey of constant expansion and development in my work, and with any luck, we’ll all teach each other a thing or two along the way.
