Learn From My Success and Mistakes
I’ve already mentioned here that I’ll be using several websites and business projects of mine as case studies that you can follow here on Jentrepreneur. They may all be successes. They may all be spectacular failures. More than likely, they’ll fall somewhere in between. The idea is to let you watch and learn, either from what I do right, or from the mistakes I make along the way.
This blog won’t be following my larger or older projects (like my business blog, PR blog, and freelance writing blog). Instead, I’ll be showcasing my newer projects and sites, so you can watch them from the very beginning. Today I’m going to give you a preview of some of these projects:
- Jentrepreneur.com - This blog itself will become a case study project, where I’ll share information such as how I’m promoting the site, subscriber trends, income trends, etc.
- Pre-Launch Buzz E-book (Book Marketing) - The launch date for my latest e-book is set for early December (so I’d better get cracking on hammering the rest of it out soon!). This e-book is targeting authors of books and e-books, and revolves around a 90-day pre-launch publicity plan. Due to the nature of the e-book, I’m doing my own pre-launch work before the launch, predominantly through a blog I’ve launched at AllBookMarketing.com - the blog will also likely be discussed here quite a bit during the promotional process for the e-book.
- Free Press Release Writing Guide - This site was just launched at FreePressReleaseWriting.com. This blog was launched on a bit of a whim, although I’m already quite familiar with the target market, competition, revenue potential, and material.
- AudioXposure.com - This is my indie music webzine that’s been sitting around seemingly forever waiting for me to find the time to re-launch it (I moved the content to Wordpress, but never found a theme I was happy enough with, and didn’t have the time to prepare the new columns). I’m moving this to the front burner in 2008, so I thought it would be an interesting addition to the mix, so not everything showcased is brand new. I’ve found a theme or two that I like. I just need to take the time to get it edited and reformat some things and then prepare for the re-launch, which will happen before the Spring of 2008 if all goes according to plan. Because I haven’t touched it, revenue has dropped to pretty much zip (as has traffic), so it should be pretty similar in that sense to the new projects. The biggest difference with this project will be that I’m heavily connected in this industry / niche, and already have a built-in audience through the site’s Myspace profile to, at the very least, announce the launch to get some initial interest. I’m also still receiving quite a few press kits and band submissions weekly, so there’s no shortage of material.
I may feature a few other things, but these will be the main projects that come to mind. Starting tomorrow or over the weekend, I’ll be posting weekly updates for each of the sites, where I’ll give an overview of it’s current status, and some plans for the coming week.
