Run an Online Magazine With Wordpress
I recently posted about some of my favorite non-blog / magazine style Wordpress themes. I’ve since come across three more that absolutely blew me away, all from Solostream.com. In addition to giving them a look, here are a few articles that will help you in developing your own Wordpress themes, as well as teaching you how Wordpress can effectively be used to manage an online magazine:
Themes:
- Suhweet Theme
- Simplicity 1.0 (I’m using a slightly modified version of this one now on NakedPR)
- Torn 2.0
I’ll definitely be making use of at least the first two of these themes. They all offer widget support (I believe, although don’t hold me to that), and they have a convenient featured post area where you can choose a primary post to display in true online magazine style.
And speaking of online magazines and Wordpress, here are a few articles you should read:

Hey Jennifer:
Thanks so much for the kind words and the links. All the themes you mentioned are definitely widget-ready.

Great post… I’m currently using/tweaking the Suhweet Theme for a local magazine - http://www.surfthedrift.com - I looked for a while for a good, clean, editable magazine-style theme and Suhweet had just about everything I needed.
