The Jentrepreneur Plan

Written on November 5, 2007 – 6:44 pm | by Jenn |

JentrepreneurThis is my first in a collection of weekly posts to let you follow the progress of Jentrepreneur.com.

Long-Term Goals

  • Have the old ChickTech.net content re-indexed on this domain, and back to top ten rankings for a few key phrases like headline templates, non-blog wordpress themes, non blog wordpress themes, magazine style wordpress themes, etc.
  • While I’ll never be one to obsess over SEO, I do want to get the basics of my SEO house in order (titles, meta tags, tagging, etc.).
  • Given that ChickTech was being ignored and pretty much completely dead on traffic when I stopped with it (less than 1000 uniques and 9000 pageviews per month), I’ll say I’ll start off with a goal of 3000 uniques and/or 25,000 pageviews per month for right now.
  • I’m not currently setting monetization goals, as it won’t be a real focus for a few weeks - I want to focus on marketing first for traffic.

Progress

  • Despite the fact that the blog is only a few days old, several pages are already indexed in Google and Yahoo (only the sitemap shows up in MSN Live).
  • Also despite  the fact that it’s only a few days old, it’s back at #1 in Google for  non blog wordpress themes and in the top 5 results for non-blog wordpress themes. While they’re certainly not heavily searched for now,  I’d been pushing those posts,  and the popularity of non-blog / magazine style wordpress themes seems to be going steadily up over time.
  • There is no income as of yet for the site.
  • Traffic is negligible as I’ve done almost nothing to promote the site yet - 410 unique visitors in approximately a week since launch and just under 4500 pageviews.

Weekly Plans

  • Launch press release
  • Start commenting on related blogs with a link back to Jentrepreneur (no comment spam)
  • Write a short report to give away for free to feed subscribers (to entice subscriptions)
  • Post project plans for my other case study projects
  • Post two additional posts (tutorials, controversial, news, etc.)
