Wordpress Plugin - C6 Excerpts

Written on May 16, 2007 – 1:35 pm | by Jennifer Mattern |

Do you run a WordPress blog? Do you wish you could include decent sized images at the start of your post, but just a thumbnail version in the home page and category listings to keep things looking neat and tidy? I needed a solution that could do this for my indie music webzine that I’m moving to wordpress. (See the Wordpress version here.) On that second link, you can see that I use a small version of each CD’s cover art on the home page and a larger version on the individual CD review page. Here’s a neat little plugin that makes that possible:

C6 Excerpts Plugin - from Circle Six Design

The plugin is pretty simple to use. You basically write your excerpt (and add any images you want displaying with it on the home page, category pages, etc.) and wrap it in a set of tags, right in your “write post” window. You can control the settings to make your excerpts show on the permalink pages, or not to (I don’t have mine showing on permalink pages). It’s as simple as that! You can use it in place of the more tag to give you more control than either the more tag or the built in optional excerpt tools give you over the home and category pages.
